Imagine distributing your income in a way that nourishes your mind, body, and soul—making money not just a means to survive, but a tool for thriving.
For years, I thought of money as something I either chased or avoided — something elusive, stressful, and ever-changing. When I first started working, I earned a significant amount of money, but I had no real control or understanding of where it went. I spent it without much thought and simply kept the rest in the bank, thinking it was secure. But over time, I realized that money needs to move. It needs to breathe and flow—coming in, going out—like a river constantly in motion. This concept aligns with the principles of flow discussed in “Money Master the Game” by Tony Robbins, where he emphasizes the importance of understanding the movement of your money to achieve financial freedom.
This journey was not straightforward. It took years of unconscious living and months of conscious attention for me to reach this mindset. I consulted with friends who were professional investors, read books, listened to podcasts (like “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind”), and to this day, I continue to learn. In fact, I’m currently taking a course on financial planning so that I can continue to build confidence in my financial decisions. Just as Tim Ferriss emphasizes continuous learning in “The 4-Hour Workweek,” I believe that financial education is an ongoing process.
A major breakthrough for me was emotionally disconnecting from money. As a Lebanese, money has long been a source of stress due to the financial collapses we’ve faced over the years and the ancestral trauma tied to instability. It took time and effort to separate my emotions from the currency, realizing that it was just a tool—and not something that could define my sense of security or self-worth. This resonates with the core message in “The Psychology of Money” by Morgan Housel, which highlights how our emotional relationship with money often dictates our financial success more than raw financial knowledge.
One of the most powerful frameworks I’ve used to create balance in my finances is the chakra system. If you’re confused, just give me a second to explain.
For those of you not familiar with the chakra system, it comes from ancient Indian philosophy and maps energy flow in our bodies. The word “chakra” means “wheel” in Sanskrit. There are seven main energy centers along the spine, each responsible for an aspect of our physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.

I remember one morning, while looking back at my expenses, I thought of aligning these energy centers with my financial allocations – and it was an ‘aha’ moment. This approach has invited more financial abundance into my life, which is crazy! With the same salary, I was able to do more, experience more, and feel more at ease with my financial situation. It truly showed me that money isn’t just about how much you make; it’s about how you manage and distribute it. This aligns with the principles of mindful money management, as discussed in the “6-Step Money Managing System” by Harveker.
Let me take you through how I approach it, and how it can transform your relationship with money too.

Root Chakra (Muladhara) – Located at the base of the spine and connected to the foundational support systems, particularly the bladder, kidneys, and adrenal glands, this chakra governs our sense of stability, security, and grounding. I dedicate 50% of my income to this part, ensuring my basic needs—like rent, food, transport, utilities, and insurance—are covered. This portion establishes a solid foundation, so I can feel secure no matter what life throws my way.

Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana) – Located just below the navel and connected to the reproductive organs, this chakra governs emotions, creativity, pleasure, and sensuality. This is where I invest in experiences that I am passionate about, bring me pleasure and keep my creative energy alive. I allocate 8% of my income to activities like travel, dance classes, shopping, or even just a night out with friends—whatever supports my connection to pleasure and joy.

Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) – Located in the upper abdomen and connected to the digestive system, this chakra governs self-worth and personal power. I allocate up to 20% of my income to investments to support this chakra, empowering myself with the knowledge and tools to take control of my financial future; whether that’s in stocks, mutual funds, retirement accounts, or even real estate. By investing in my financial growth, I not only nourish my financial well-being but also strengthen my inner confidence and ability to lead my life with purpose.

Heart & Throat Chakras (Anahata & Vishuddha) – From the center of the chest to the throat area and connected to the heart, lungs, circulatory system, and vocal cords, these chakras govern love, compassion, communication, and self-expression. I allocate 8% of my income to social activities, which allows me to engage in experiences that promote emotional connection, open communication, and a sense of community. This portion includes spending on social gatherings, dinners with friends, and activities that help me express myself and deepen my connections.

Third Eye Chakra (Ajna) – Located in the center of the forehead and connected to the pineal gland, eyes, and brain, this chakra governs intuition, insight, and vision. I allocate 8% of my income to education and personal growth—whether it’s courses, books, or learning experiences that expand my knowledge and sharpen my intuition. Investing in personal development and aligning my spending with my long-term vision helps me make wiser decisions and stay true to my inner guidance.

Crown Chakra (Sahasrara) – Located at the top of the head and associated with the brain, nervous system, and the connection to higher consciousness, this governs spiritual connection, wisdom, and the understanding of the interconnectedness of all life. I allocate 8% of my income to giving back to the universe, whether it’s through donations, acts of kindness, or giving away money to projects that serve the greater good. By nurturing the Crown Chakra through generosity and a deeper connection to spiritual practices, I align with the flow of abundance and trust in the universe’s support.
By distributing my money in alignment with the chakras, I’ve created a balance that doesn’t just focus on survival or immediate wants. The structure has helped me avoid the emotional traps of overspending or feeling like I’m not “doing enough” with my money. Each category has its place, and I feel aligned, empowered, and free in the way I manage my finances.
Money is not a source of stress anymore and instead has become a tool for living my best life, one that fosters long-term growth, joy, and connection.
”How are you currently spending your money? Is it aligned with your values, or is it time to rebalance your flow?
